Rod has over forty years experience in ski resort management, homeowner association management, real estate development, historic district renovation, general construction, upscale renovations and commercial tenant improvements.  Rod CopeRod enlisted in the Navy after graduation from Normal Community HS and was instructor for an amphibious assault groups in electronic countermeasures as well as psychological warfare.  Upon honorable discharge from the Navy with several commendation from Pacific Command he attended Illinois State University in the early seventies.  Rod paid for his education by working with his father in the construction industry and local developers, Hundman Homes, gaining a vast knowledge in general construction as well as large scale multifamily development.

Moving to California in 1980 he took a position with Statewide Developers as liaison for the transition of large high end resort rental communities to condominium homeowner associations.  He spearheaded the start up of Tricor Management (a subsidiary of Statewide) as Chief Executive Officer.  In the early eighties Rod moved to Mammoth Lakes CA and purchased a ski reservation, property management and maintenance service, Sierra Resort Services.  He grew the company seven-fold before selling the company in 1996 and moved back to Southern California and in 1998 founded Coastal Pacific Properties, LLC in Carlsbad CA.  Rod sold the company in 2004 and moved his wife and three children to Prescott AZ so that the children would be able to attend high school in a smaller hometown environment.

Rod founded Reliable Property Management/Maintenance, Inc providing property management, maintenance and remodeling services.  Rod was a member of the Board, Yavapai County Contractors Association.

Rod and his wife Suzanne’s two daughters and son made the adjustment quite well continuing their studies as honor students. Their two girls became co-captains of the Prescott HS varsity cheer squad while their son was a member of the varsity hockey team. Upon graduation the family moved to Austin based on its’ economical stability during the recessionary economy. Their son Dylan is now stationed in Honolulu, HI with the Army behavioral staff at Tripler Army Hospital. Their oldest daughter, Emily, is a preschool teacher at Primrose School and their youngest daughter, McKenzie, is a premed student at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls TX. Rod’s wife, Suzanne, is a private care nurse in Austin.


DSC00366(1)Karen Sherman recently relocated to Austin from California and is Director of INTERIOR DESIGN / RENOVATIONS / STAGING for Rod Cope Services. Karen is passionate about interior design and art. Being an artist working in oil paints, she brings an artist’s eye to all her design work. Feeling it is imperative that design function well for clients she works hard to ensure a successful outcome on all her projects. She has that rare ability to come into a space and see its potential. She has taken on many projects where the existing space was not well suited to the needs of the family living there and transformed it into a space that is esthetically pleasing and highly functional.

Karen studied design at Canada College in the San Francisco Bay Area and The Interior Design Institute of Newport Beach, graduating with honors in the Interior Design program at Canada College in 2010. Courses included Bath, Kitchen and Residential design. She has done numerous kitchen designs for clients in both northern and southern California.
